Atlas Sales Inc. has invested in energy efficient lighting, recycles 250 tons of cardboard, cans and glass annually
Atlas Sales Inc. is celebrating Earth Day by renewing its commitment to protecting Michigan’s air, land and Great Lakes.
“We pride ourselves on using innovative, cutting-edge technology like electric-powered forklifts to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and ensure a healthier workplace for our employees,” said Bud Dunn, vice president at Atlas Sales Inc. “We’re proud to do our part to reduce our carbon footprint while serving our customers throughout Calhoun County.”
The Calhoun County beer distributor has transitioned to energy efficient lighting, operates electric forklifts in its warehouse and recycles more than 250 tons of cardboard, aluminum cans and glass every year. Atlas Sales Inc. also works almost exclusively with plastic, reusable pallets, which are better for the environment.
Atlas Sales Inc. recycles 224 tons of glass, 30 tons of cardboard and 350,000 pounds of aluminum cans and bottles each year through its in-house recycling facility. In 2014, the distributor converted to energy efficient lighting saving 50,000 kilowatts of power per year.
“Focusing on energy efficiency saves businesses money while also protecting our air, land and Great Lakes,” said Dunn. “We lead by example through our energy efficiency initiatives and are constantly striving to build upon our long history of environmental responsibility by seeking ways to increase efficiencies and reduce energy use.”
