A brief history of New Belgium Brewing:
In 1989, aspiring homebrewer Jeff Lebesch rode his “fat tire” mountain bike throughout Europe, seeking out villages famous for beer. Jeff returned home to Fort Collins, CO with a handful of ingredients and an imagination full of recipes. His brewery was born in his basement as he brewed his first batches of a brown dubbel with earthy undertones named Abbey and a remarkably well-balanced amber he named Fat Tire. Jeff and his wife Kim took the brewery commercial in 1991.
Kim remains as the brewery’s CEO today and leads a large team in the production of European-influenced beers. The company maintains a focus on their employees, providing shares of ownership and an anniversary cruiser bike to each employee after one year with the company.
