A few weeks ago, I was in Detroit and had the opportunity to stop by a gem of the Michigan craft brewing industry: Rochester Mills Beer Co. The team at Rochester Mills is second to none, and their facility is amazing.
Rochester Mills started in 1998 in Downtown Rochester, where they still have their brewpub and restaurant open today. Like many successful growing breweries, they quickly outgrew their brewpub space and needed to find a building so they could expand distribution outside of the Rochester and Tri County area. I got the chance to tour their production brewery with the founder/brewing mad scientist Mike.
Mike shared his insights on how their team goes through the process of making great beer. It’s awesome to see the passion and attention to detail that goes into making their Milkshake Stout (you haven’t lived if you haven’t tasted this beer). Rochester puts all their beers in beautiful 16oz cans that are stacked out in their warehouse just waiting to be filled. The Rochester Mills beers on the shelf in our market are Lazy Daze Amber Lager, Milkshake Stout, Cornerstone IPA, and Rochester Red Ale.
I want to thank the team at Rochester Mills Beer Co. for hosting me at the brewery and pub. They have a great team, an amazing brewing operation, and very well-brewed beers. Make sure you pick up a 4 pack of their cans today, and stop by the brewery for a beer when you’re on the east side. Tell them the Atlas team sent ya 🙂
Cheers,
Bud
