One outgrowth of the growing interest in craft beers is the rise of seasonal beers. Seasonal beers offer beer lovers the chance to experience a different taste depending on the time of year. While lemonade like Shock Top Lemon Shandy might be the perfect thing to drink over ice on a warm beautiful summer day, when we look out our windows this time of the year and just have to dream about those days. Winter beers are as different from summer as the view from our window.
Traditional winter brews are higher in alcohol, malty, spicy and richer in flavor profile. Shock Top Chocolate Wheat is a beer made for winter. It is an unfiltered wheat beer with a blend of chocolate, caramel and black malts. The beer is aged on vanilla and cocoa beans. Think of a caramel macchiato with a shot of chocolate. The Shock Top Chocolate is available in a Winter Combo 6 pack which contains 3 chocolates and 3 Belgian White Flagship beers.
Of course there is no wrong way to enjoy your beer. So you can drink them separately but it is also fun to mix the two beers together. This is affectionately known as a ‘Choc’ Top. You and your friend can open one of each and watch the fire with a unique glass of beer. This is called mixology and it is a lot of fun to combine products and try to make a new flavor combination.
The combo packs are available between December 2 and March 1. By then we will be ready to turn our thoughts back to warmer days. In the meantime hang in there, reward yourself with a beer for shoveling the sidewalks for your neighbors and dream of lemonade.
